You don't have to be an Opeth fan to appreciate a well-built instrument, but if you are, then you'll already be familiar with how perfect the tone of this beauty is for anything heavy. The funny thing is, we often find that funk and R&B players also like this a lot. It makes sense, whether you're playing heavy metal or some funk, you're going to tend to want a bass that has tight and punchy articulation in the notes. This provides that in spades!

Designed specifically for the Opeth bassist, this is essentially a Sandberg TT-4 in a VS-4 body with the lightest level of aging (relic) that Sandberg has to offer and their awesome vibration treatment (they have made believers out of us that this really does help). So what does that mean? It's a j-style electronics configuration in p-bass style body. The Delano pickups have a very forward and modern tone to them. They're very present in the midrange and every note is super punchy and tight. But unlike a vintage or traditional jazz bass design, sometimes that scooped mids tone can lead to your sound getting a bit lost as you start to add fuzz, distortion, or overdrive to it. That's when you'll be thankful to have those Delano single-coils that are inherently very rich and thick in the mids. They almost sound more like mini-humbuckers. They pack enough punch that Martin decided to keep the bass all passive when designing it. He didn't feel it needed a pre-amp to give it that extra "oomph"
