2018 PRS Paul Reed Smith Wood Library Artist Package Custom 24-08 Guitar, Satin Red Tiger, Rosewood Neck, Brazilian Fretboard

In December of 2017, we headed over to the east coast to pay a little visit to our friends over at the Paul Reed Smith factory. While there we selected some woods for our next batch of Wood Library guitars and the final product is looking pretty awesome! We scoured through every piece of artist grade flame and quilt maple that was in the wood library vault to get the best selections. Mr. Smith, himself, joined us at one point to help with the process. Of course, we listened closely to any suggestions he had to make and you get to enjoy the result of that! The figuring on the flame top, the swamp ash body, and the rosewood neck are all incredibly impressive on this gem.

If you were a fan of the PRS 408 or if you ever felt like the Custom 24 needed even more versatility than it already had, then this guitar has your name all over it! PRS's new Custom 24-08 is a hybrid of the flagship Custom 24 model with some of the pickup combinations offered in the 408 so that you can literally achieve any combination of humbucking and/or single-coil modes out of the 2 85/15 pickups in this beauty.

The all-rosewood neck is simply a thing of beauty. If you haven't played a guitar with a rosewood neck before, do yourself a favor and give it a try. It's something everyone should get to experience; there is no better feeling. The rosewood is smooth and simply feels amazing on your fretting hand. The feeling only gets better over time as the natural oils of your hands get into the wood give it a slick feel. On top of the East Indian rosewood neck is the holy grail of all tonewoods - Brazilian rosewood. Brazilian rosewood has a brightness in the hi-mids that other rosewoods don't while still maintaining the smoothness and sweetness that rosewood is known for. There's good reason why this is highly regarded as one of, if not the greatest tonewood of all. We still wanted the guitar to have a little bit of an edge and bite to the sound as well so we decided to go with a swamp ash body. The figuring is so beautiful that we went with a natural back to show it off. The punchy bass response and accentuated treble of the swamp ash complement the sweet midrange of the rosewood beautifully.

This guitar features some Artist Package and some Private Stock specs while coming in below the cost of a normal Artist Package 24-08. From the minute you walk into the gig with the Artist Package Brown Paisley case you'll start turning heads. And it only gets better when you pull the guitar out and let it rip.
