Music Store Live is proud to offer up this beautiful creation from our friends at the Martin Custom Shop department. A red cedar top and heavily figured claro walnut back and sides make this comfy parlor acoustic a fingerpicker's dream while still having enough push back from the top to handle strumming with a pick, as well. It's versatile, comfortable, portable, and compromises absolutely nothing.
For this beautiful creation, as always, we kept in mind how the woods would look together, but also, and perhaps most importantly, how they would sound together. But this one really did come out stunningly gorgeous. It's a wood lover's dream. Red cedar top, flame maple binding, and figured walnut on the headstock as well as, of course, the back and sides to make for a beautiful organic aesthetic showing off some of the best tonewoods nature has to offer.
Don't be fooled by the smaller body on this one; it still pumps out a lot of sound... Sweet, sweet, glorious, and angelic sound. The walnut and cedar combination provides a warm and mellow tone with some great brightness and clarity up top. The cedar has great natural compression to help organically even out your plucking. The walnut is articulate and smooth at the same time, while the ebony fretboard provides some nice brightness. The sound is refined and nuanced, especially in the mid-range. There's a great low mids and treble presence that gives it fullness but still a bit of a natural scoop in the mids, leaving the perfect sonic space to slot in vocals, for example.
The playability, of course, is off the charts and only the best of the best work at Martin's Custom Shop department. Of course, making a guitar that's easier to play will also make it (and you) sound better, too! This beauty has got to be one of the smoothest and easiest playing 00 guitars we've ever had roll through the shop. It's extremely comfortable and the construction quality is simply divine.
This is a truly special Martin Custom Shop build that plays and sounds as great as it looks.
