Player's Perspective

Moog has been building synthesizers for decades, and they've finally applied their encyclopaedic knowledge of all things analog to inexpensive, expertly crafted pedals. This Minifooger Boost is much more than a button you hit when you need more volume. It's a complete tonal makeover for your rig. There are two settings: one for a clean boost, and one that provides some gain as well. Both modes add a touch of beautiful natural compression to your sound. We're not talking about the kind of compression that flattens your playing dynamics and adds some weird clicky noise to your tone - we're talking about that shimmering, glassy thing that happens when you push a good tube amp.

What makes these Minifoogers so much fun is that they are kind of like instruments unto themselves. While most pedals are somewhat 2-dimensional in their approach - step here, sound of pedal will come out - this pedal gives the user much more flexibility and control. The control knobs are gain, level and tone, with a mini-toggle on board to switch between clean and slightly distorted settings. You can also add an expression pedal and assign it to the gain control, and what's even cooler is that you can get more gain out of the pedal this way. In the down position, it'll add up to +12dB or +18dB boost, depending on how you have the pedal dialed in.

This is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to explore uncharted sonic territory. Hats off to Moog for shaking things up in the pedal world.
