Player's Perspective

The ASAT Classic is a straight-ahead, easy playing tone machine that offers familiar styling with subtle refinements. Woody, articulate and beefy in the mids, the tone of this axe is slightly punchier than similar designs. The pickups are responsive and focused, but they never get too bright or harsh, even on the bridge position. Clean sounds have a nice shimmer and chime, and with some distortion, this is the perfect all around blues, rock and country guitar. The neck is comfortable everywhere, and it'll feel familiar the first time you pick it up. This particular one is finished in nitrocellulose instead of the usual thick polyurethane lacquer. The result is that the body of your guitar can actually breathe and the sound will mature and only get better with time. Plus nitro finishes feel awesome and look super cool as they age (and when they're new too!)

Special Features

The G&L ASAT Classic is Leo’s final word on the traditional single-cutaway bolt-on axe. Framed in a classic boxed-steel bridge, the single-coil Magnetic Field Design bridge pickup created by Leo Fender delivers crisp attack with complex harmonics while individual brass saddles offer modern levels of intonation refinement. Flip to the single-coil MFD neck pickup and you’ll discover a delectably rich tonal palette, from round clean jazz tones to thick, gritty blues. Put ‘em together and you’ll find a whole ‘nother level of heaven.
