Obviously the expectations are very high whenever you're talking about something with "Fender" on the headstock. Then it becomes further elevated when it comes out of their Custom Shop department. This beauty here combines the best vintage and traditional aspects of a strat with some modern takes that bring it into the 21st century. Most noticeably, the flat fretboard will give the guitar a distinct feel unlike Strats of yesteryear. It makes for a super comfortable playing experience where you can bend your notes as much as you want without ever having to worry about them fretting out.

Sonically, it packs some good punch. Each of the pickups were specifically chosen to both complement each other as well as to offer versatility when used on their own. They're all hand-wound which gives them a bit of a richer sound that is hard to describe but instantly recognizable. With a Texas Special in the bridge, you get a bit of a higher output and hotter bridge tone which allows it to handle some distortion and gain really nicely. A Fat '50's RWRP middle acts as a humcanelling option when combined with the neck or bridge pickup. It also sounds nice and spanky and twangy when used on its own. From the neck, the '69 single-coil provides a warm and lush tone that is full and warm.

A little bit of yesterday mixed with a little bit of tomorrow... That's what the Postmodern Custom Shop Strat offers and it's really a beautiful marriage of past and present. Perfect for any Fender collector, but really, this bad boy's made to be played and rocked! 

Manufacturer's Description

Combining timeless Fender style with player-friendly features, the Postmodern Strat is a gig-ready instrument with thoughtful design touches that could only come from the Fender Custom Shop. The two-piece select alder body wears a flashcoat, thin lacquer finish that lets the wood breathe with more resonance while wearing in a distinctively personal way. Strong and stable, tinted riftsawn maple neck sports a comfortable '60s Syle Oval "C"-shaped profile that works well for almost any playing style, while the modern 12”-radius rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium-jumbo frets offer a familiar experience. Designed for hum-free, vintage-informed tone, the trio of hand-wound single-coil pickups includes a hot Texas Special bridge pickup, RWRP Fat ‘50s in the middle position to reduce hum and a ’69 in the neck position. We tied it all together with Fat ‘50s wiring, and then to ensure it’s as RFI- and EMI-resistant as possible, we shielded the pickups and control routes. The Journeyman Relic treatment gives this guitar the look and feel of an often-played original, personalized with a “decked” tremolo and extra tremolo springs for increased stability.

Other features include a contoured neck heel, 4-Ply 11-Hole Brown Shell pickguard, Custom Shop vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style staggered tuning machines, bone nut and wing string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
