This entry into the Parallel Universe series is the only bass in this limited edition series release. It's a tele bass mixed with a p bass mixed with a j bass. Simple enough on paper and under your fingers... and it sounds oh so good!
 
The Fender Custom Shop pickups are bubbling with vintage goodness whether you're using the p pickup, the j pickup, or both. Unless you've been living under a rock all of your life you already know what a precision bass and what a jazz bass sounds like. Think of this as a very refined version of those sounds from the 60's, 70's and today (not that most people are using vintage-voiced pickups).
 
The playability is thoroughly impressive and the fretwork on this bass allows you to dial in super low action without having to worry about fret buzzing. The fretboard is beautifully rolled on the edges, the frets are immaculately crowned and installed on the board, and the neck shape is definitely a mix between a P and a J neck and doesn't feel as big and bulky as some of those old P-basses did.
 
This is a pro-quality bass that will take lots of abuse and road wear in stride. It's versatile enough to get you by just about any gig, simple enough so that you know exactly what to do with it right out of the box, but yet high-end enough that you'll never grow tired of it or find that you need something more expensive to get the same sorts of sounds.

Looking like it just stepped out of a DeLorean time machine, the limited-edition ’51 Telecaster PJ Bass updates a classic design with thunderous modern tone and enhanced feel. The authentic style extends from the distinctive single-ply black pickguard to the dual-concentric volume knobs and vintage spaghetti logo on the headstock—original-era touches brought into the present. It’s punchy, growling, seismic and like nothing you’ve heard or seen before.

Two Custom Shop pickups give this bass its rumbling power—a ‘60s Jazz Bass® single-coil bridge pickup and ‘60s P Bass® split-coil middle pickup bring the thunder, shaped by chrome-dome dual-concentric volume controls and a master tone control. The 34”-scale Telecaster bass maple neck has an American Vintage “ ’63 P Bass”-shaped profile, along with a modern 9.5”-radius fingerboard for enhanced playing feel, topped with narrow-tall frets black dot position markers. The HiMass® Vintage bridge uses vintage-style nickel-plated brass saddles for enhanced Fender tone.
