The M-II is an aggressive and modern design that takes no prisoners in playability or tone. From the top down the guitar is built impeccably. The fretwork allows for nice low action, the Floyd Rose locking bridge and locking nut lets you dive bomb the night away without worrying about your strings going out of tune, and the neck-through-body construction will increase the sustain of your notes.
Blues, classic rock, and even higher-gain stuff are where this axe wants to live. Hit your pedals or the front end of your amp hard and marvel in the definition and articulation that never seems to go away, no matter how heavily you saturate it. Crafted at our ESP USA facility in Southern California, the USA M-II NTB stands for “neck thru body”, and that’s exactly what it is… a shredder’s dream for those who love the stability and sustain of guitars with neck-thru construction. It offers an extra thin U-shaped three-piece maple neck with mahogany body wings. Optional premier-quality figured-wood tops are available on the USA M-II NTB FR including flamed maple, quilted maple, lacewood, zebrawood, and koa, with a variety of amazing translucent gloss and satin finishes to choose from, as well as an ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl offset block inlays.
The parts and components on the USA M-II NTB FR are second to none, and include 24 extra-jumbo Jescar stainless steel frets, an Original Floyd Rose floating tremolo, Sperzel Trim-Lok, Dunlop strap locks, and a variety of high-end Seymour Duncan or EMG pickups, with a push-pull coil split control on the tone knob for passive pickup models. The USA M-II NTB FR includes a high-quality ESP USA form-fitting hard shell case.
FEATURES
Graphite Neck Reinforcement Bars: Get maximum strength and stability from your guitar’s neck, with higher long-term reliability. All ESP USA models are made with two high-strength bars of carbon fiber.
Drop Top w/ Natural Masked Binding: The droptop design on many of our ESP USA models allows for the beauty of a figured top that’s bent over the arm contour, adding a little brightness to the overall sound while retaining the warmth of the body wood. The natural masked binding edge adds amazing visual contrast.
3-Piece Neck-Thru Body: ESP USA models that offer a neck-thru-body design incorporate a three-piece laminated neck design. This increases the strength and stability of the neck, leading to better long-term reliability along with excellent tone and sustain.
THE PICKUPS
Seymour Duncan '59: The ’59 neck model (SH-1n) is one of our most popular pickups because it’s so versatile. Like its bridge-position sibling, the ’59 neck is designed in the spirit of the original P.A.F. humbuckers of the 1950s, with sweet sustain, and a warm, full sound that still possesses a clear attack. We’ve made a few refinements to slightly modernize the design and make it more adaptable to different styles. The high end is slightly boosted for improved pick-attack clarity and the mids are a little scooped for an open, smooth sound that’s great for preserving the clarity of the individual notes in a chord. The ’59 neck was born to accompany the ’59 bridge, but countless players pair it with a high output bridge humbucker, such as a JB or Custom.
Seymour Duncan Custom: The Duncan Custom is a medium output humbucker pickup that features a small ceramic magnet and custom-wound coils to dish out a ‘P.A.F.-on-steroids’ tone. It has tight lows, a bump in the upper midrange that gives you more character and crunch, and an airy high end that cuts through heavy distortion but is also great for achieving crystal-clear clean tones. It’s especially suited for warmer-sounding guitars with a prominent midrange. Therefore, many players like to use it in Les Pauls and Paul Reed Smiths. It pairs well with the Jazz or ’59 neck models, and forms one half of our ’59/Custom Hybrid humbucker.
