This is an excellent way to get some of the best craftsmanship ESP has to offer in an American-made guitar that is absolutely shred-ready in every way. The M-II is an aggressive and modern design that takes no prisoners in playability or tone. From the top down the guitar is built impeccably. The fretwork allows for nice low action and the Hipshot bridge gives you seemingly infinite sustain along with immaculate intonation.
This guitar comes equipped with some hot pickups. The sentient and pegasus pickups rock hard and are shred-ready. They stay tight and defined even in high-gain settings. They're great for cutting through a mix and won't get muddy on you. It's ready to rock from top to bottom. The neck is nice and thin and lightning fast; the playability is effortless, and this one's also nice and light so you can play for hours on end in comfort.

Crafted at our ESP USA facility in Southern California, the USA M-II Hardtail offers a high-end take on one of the world’s most beloved shred guitars. It offers a mahogany body with bolt-on construction to its extra thin U-shaped quarter-sawn maple neck with natural satin finish for the smoothest and fastest playing experience. Optional premier-quality figured-wood tops are available on the USA M-II Hardtail including flamed maple, quilted maple, lacewood, zebrawood, and koa, with a variety of amazing translucent gloss and satin finishes to choose from, as well as both maple and ebony fingerboards with clean abalone dot inlays.
The parts and components on the USA M-II Hardtail are second to none, and include 24 extra-jumbo Jescar stainless steel frets, a Hipshot hardtail fixed bridge, a bone nut, Sperzel Trimlok tuners, Schaller strap locks, and a variety of high-end Seymour Duncan or EMG pickups, with a push-pull coil split control on the tone knob for passive pickup models. The USA M-II Hardtail includes a high-quality ESP USA form-fitting hard shell case.
Graphite Neck Reinforcement Bars
Get maximum strength and stability from your guitar’s neck, with higher long-term reliability. All ESP USA models are made with two high-strength bars of carbon fiber.
Deep Dish Jack
In addition to looking sleek, the Deep Dish jack installed on ESP USA models has the added benefit of providing the depth and angle of the cable to be easily looped around the player’s strap to better protect the cable from crimps or other damage.
Seymour Duncan Sentient and Pegasus Pickups
The Pegasus/Sentient medium output humbucker pickup set offers progressive players the ultimate palette of modern metal tones. The Pegasus bridge was originally designed for extended range instruments. However, 6 string players immediately demanded we offer a version to call their own. It incorporates an alnico 5 bar magnet and custom winding specs. The goal was to deliver a warm, balanced, responsive, and lush tone for progressive metal. It’s a harmonically rich pickup with a prominent midrange and a focused low end. The high resonant peak makes for a sparkly top end and an incredible “bloom” on chords in high-gain situations. The responsive and accurate pick attack ensures that you will cut through any live mix and will have tight-tracking transients in a studio environment. Because the Pegasus is a moderate output pickup, it works as well for clean tones as it does for distorted tones.
The Sentient neck delivers a balanced, versatile tone that fits right between the ’59 model and the Jazz neck pickup. You’ll get pristine cleans and fluid leads under high gain. The Sentient is a very articulate vintage output pickup with great dynamic response and a wide harmonic range. It works great for low tunings in all humbucker-equipped guitars.
Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA, factory, the Pegasus and Sentient medium output humbucker pickups both feature an alnico 5 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and are vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.
