Built with passion that you can hear and feel, with a clear regard for the tradition and the nostalgia that made us all want to pick up the instrument in the first place, Rock n Roll Relics are cranking out some of the finest hand-made aged instruments on the market. This Thunders II Singlecut guitar is no different. The fit and finish of the guitar is perfect. The fretwork is divine and the neck, while feeling a bit bulkier than some modern guitars, doesn't feel like a baseball bat. The guitar might look like it's seen decades of wear and tear on the road, but unlike so many of those vintage pieces, you don't have to worry about re-fretting this one or dealing with neck warp or any of that. It only looks old... But it plays like a new guitar would, while having that feeling of being an axe that's been in your arsenal for decades.
The Lollar P90's in this are as good as it gets. It maintains a warm and vintage sound while still having plenty of snappiness on the top end. You end up with a sound that's sort of like single-coils on steroids, in a sense. But RnR Relics don't stop there with the high quality electronics. They use highest grade Emerson Customs pots and Russian Military caps too! Because what good is having some of the best pickups if the sound has to travel through less-than-stellar pots and caps? Everything about this guitar seems perfectly thought out and conceptualized.
