The Regius line provides an excellent balance between classic design and modern tone. The neck feels absolutely amazing whether you're a 6-string slinger or have been playing extended range guitars for a while. The idea behind this is to still suit Mayones' tradition of aggressive tone and shredder guitars while keeping one foot in the more traditional and vintage tonal spectrum. The Duncan JB and Jazz pickups clean up very nicely and aren't quite as in-your-face as what you'll find in some of Mayones' other offerings. The guitar stays defined even with distortion but can also cop a mellower and more vintage vibe too with a few minor control tweaks.
While this guitar is still going to be a head-turner - I mean, just look at it! It's gorgeous! - the angles on the body and the flame maple archtop will feel more familiar to players accustomed to more traditional axes of old. This is perfect for anyone that wants the superb build quality of a Mayones guitar but does not necessarily need to have overwound pickups that are always hitting your pedals and your amp with the force of a sledgehammer. Blues, classic rock, and fusion players will find the Duncan pickups to be versatile, smooth, and articulate. It certainly can shred, but it doesn't have to.
