Music Store Live is proud to present this Suhr Modern with a highly figured flame maple top! We've been hearing from you for a few years now that you'd love to see us carrying Suhr guitars. Well, we've listened! In fact, we've fallen head over heels for these guitars and we took a couple of trips to their factory to spec out a special run of unique and custom guitars. Every appointment on this guitar was first considered for tone, then aesthetics... But boy did they come out beautifully!
The Suhr Modern series of guitars are designed for... well, you guessed it... the modern day player who's not afraid to deviate from the vintage tones of old and needs something with a bit more edge to it. Want an edgy double-cut axe that can melt faces and is comfortable enough to shred on until the sun comes up? Here you go! The Suhr designed pickups work together to provide a powerful and aggressive tone that does have the ability to be somewhat tamed. When coming up with the specs for this build, it was very important that guitar sound good and articulate with lots of saturation and distortion, but we also really wanted something that would sound awesome, with no compromises, when played clean, with nothing to mask the beauty of the tone that's emanating directly from the guitar. This one accomplishes that in spades. It sounds truly beautiful clean and has all of the edge you could want to dial up some serious distortion and still articulately slice through the mix.
Both humbuckers can be split to achieve a thinner and more vintage single-coil sound. ut then, of course, you can run this racecar-of-a-guitar at full speed for a rich, thick, and meaty tone that will be sure to turn some heads. The natural EQ of the guitar is very balanced and the Pau Ferro neck, Ebony fretboard, and Basswood body all work together to emphasize just the right amount of just the right frequencies while dialing out a smidgeon of midrange (while still leaving plenty of mids still present). This guitar can handle anything you throw at it, whether you're looking to play clean, slightly dirty, or very heavily overdriven. The feeling of the neck is nothing short of sublime! The Pau Ferro neck feels incredible and is satin smooth. It only improves over time as the natural oils from your hands get absorbed into the wood. It's like slippers for your fretting hand. The Macassar Ebony fretboard has some really cool and unique figuring to it and helps add some nice brightness to the overall tone. The reverse headstock and pau ferro wood cavity covers on the back are some really nice extra touches to really make this a one-of-a-kind.
If you're aiming to turn some heads with your tone as well as with the looks of your axe and want a piece that's truly unique and built by some of the best luthiers on the planet, then all we can say is... You're welcome! :-)

The Modern shape is our high-performance take on the 24 fret design. The sleek elliptical neck profile, balanced asymmetrical body, and innovative neck heel deliver unmatched playability and comfort. The stunning hand selected waterfall burl top was hand selected by Music Store Live along with all of the other appointments on this guitar.
This Modern features a Pau Ferro neck with a Macassar Ebony fingerboard. The neck is unfinished and the feeling of the smooth, bare wood on your fretting hand is divine. Over time, the oils from your hands work into the wood and the feel of the neck only gets better and better over time. Rolled edges and a 10-14” compound fingerboard radius offers a substantial, yet comfortable shape. Stainless steel frets offer silky smooth bending and long-lasting playability. Every Suhr receives a PLEK fret dress, ensuring the best possible string action, playability and intonation. The sculpted heel of the Modern allows for easy access to all 24 frets. For optimum tone and stability, the neck joint must not be too tight or too loose, therefore all of our neck pockets are precisely fitted by hand, by expert craftsmen. The Modern shape has a unique asymmetrical body that balances superbly with the extended 24-fret neck. Fast, sleek and sexy looking, the Modern shape will feel right at home to players who were weaned on the popular and innovative shapes that came into vogue in the 80’s. The Gotoh 510 tremolo bridge features dual steel knife edge pivot points to provide greater functionality and years of trouble free performance. The 510’s steel block increases sustain and tuning stability. In this guitar, the tremolo bridge is recessed into the body to allow for freakishly low action, if that's your cup of tea (though it certainly doesn't HAVE to have that super low action on it).
