As one of PRS's top independent dealers, we often have the privilege of heading out to their factory in Maryland to pick out all of the woods and specifications for a unique and exclusive run of guitars that can only be purchased through our shop!
We made this one decidedly more vintage sounding by going with some highly coveted korina woods and the PAF-like 58/15LT pickups. From the minute you pull the luxurious black paisley artist package case out of the box, you'll be blown away by this guitar. As soon as you unsheath this axe from it's holster, you'll realize the fun has only just begun. An absolutely gorgeous quilt maple top is likely to be the first thing you'll notice on this beauty. Quilt maple tops are not available on standard CORE model PRS guitars and this custom teal fade color helps differentiate this from all of the other Custom 24's out there. The back is absolutely beautiful and gives you an unadulterated view of the beautiful korina wood used for the body, as well as the neck.
Tonally, this is going to be a Custom 24 through and through, but with an enhanced mid-range response to it. The combination of the 58/15LT pickups and the korina body and neck help to give this a vintage sound while still providing enough presence to not get buried in a dense mix or sound muddy when using distortion. The cocobolo fretboard maintains enhances some of that great mid-range presence and looks gorgeous.
Playability is simply off the charts and attention to detail, from top to bottom, is nothing short of immaculate. If you're looking for PRS Custom 24 that's going to stand out from the rest of the bunch with a versatile but vintage sound, this will absolutely hit the mark!
Special Features
The Custom 24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM show in 1985 and has been a top seller ever since. Played by internationally touring artists, gigging musicians, and aspiring players, the Custom 24 features PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo system and PRS 58/15LT pickups (the same as on the McCarty 594 and SC594) with volume and tone controls and a 5-way blade switch. 58/15LT pickups were personally designed by Paul Reed Smith to offer a modern take on a traditional PAF pickup.
There are several appointments on this guitar which make this truly exclusive. The following are not available on standard CORE Custom 24 models:
