Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to be an official Tom Anderson Guitarworks dealer. These pretty much take the cake as the nicest bolt-on guitars to roll through our shop!

With a veritable who's who of guitar players on their roster, it's easy to see why Anderson Guitars have become so highly sought after for pros and hobbyists alike. A brief glance of Anderson's endorsees includes names like Bob Seger, David Crosby, Dierks Bentley, Kirk Hammett, Keith Richards, Richie Sambora, Neal Schon, Vernon Reid, Tim Pierce, and the list goes on and on and on. Simply put, Tom Anderson and his crew are cranking out some of the most amazing guitars on the planet right now.

This Bobcat absolutely rocks! The neck is simply devine, as with every Anderson guitar and the playability is out of this world. Fit-and-finish from top to bottom is immaculate and the combination of perfect fret work along with the recessed bridge allow for crazy-low action. It pretty much plays itself. The Happy Medium neck profile is just that. It's not going to feel like a toothpick in your hands but it's also far from chunky and bulky.

The pickups have some really nice punch to them without being terribly overwound. They clean up nicely and still sound great without any distortion on them, but they can also hit the front end of your amp with some decent force to push it and drive it. They sound amazing with a little saturation and maintain distinct definition for every note.

Manufacturer's Description

A carved maple top is the crowning glory that defines the beauty of Bobcat. Swift playability and ridiculously rich, musical midrange muscle make it the single-cut guitar that can do it all. More styles, more sounds in more ways.

Bobcat is an Anderson guitar through and through, and as such every outrageous Anderson attribute is soundly intact and at your beck and call:
   - Smooth and fast, Bobcat's buttery playability is just effortless to play and bend, for as far as you would like to push it.

   - Unbelievably resonant, Bobcat rings seemingly forever, even unplugged. One chord and you will know how big, how vibrant, how full and how in tune a guitar can actually be.

   - Unique 3-on-a-side headstock with nearly straight string pull renders unparalleled tuning ease and stability while offering a much stronger neck to headstock union.

   - Encircling the entire back circumference of the body is a smooth, soft cut radius for next to body comfort. It is fantastic to hold Bobcat close.

   - Hand selected, kiln dried mahogany means Bobcat's overall weight is less than you'd expect from this style of instrument. Just so nice to strap on and play all night long.

   - Uniquely styled lower horn takes its styling cue from our Raven model. Rounded, shortened and deeper cut, it splays slightly outward to noticeably grant easier access to the highest regions of the fretboard and balances Bobcat’s center of gravity nicely when sitting to play.  No sliding off the leg for Bobcat, just sit, plant it and play, comfortably.

   - Countersunk bridge, tailpiece and pickup rings look so, so, so cool and provide a more natural angle for the picking hand and wrist to contact the string plane, makes picking a more effortless motion.

   - 8 hum-free sounds from a simple and traditional 3-way selector and your choice of a two or three knob setup. With Push/Pull pots to cut power for each pickup individually. The addition of an optional VA Boost will multiply the available tonal palette to 16.

   - Lightweight Tune-o-matic style bridge is standard and wonderful to play, but so is the optional vintage tremolo style bridge if you so desire.

Just a moment is all that will be needed to open your mind and heart, and once you hear how resonant and feel how easily Bobcat plays you will utterly lose your mind, in a good way!

Pickups:
HC 1: More neck humbucker saturation, output and smoothness than HC1- while still retaining equilibrium for the neck position perfection. The quintessential mate for the medium-hot HC2 in the bridge position.
HC 2: Our other most popular humbucker, perhaps. Who wouldn’t love a medium-hot output package with all the vintage flavor firmly in place, wound to create a full bouquet of tonalities. Muscular mids with a smattering of lush and soft highlights so it is impressively musical, with never a hint of that “oops, I accidentally sat on a duck,” tone. Beautiful from all tonal angles.
