Player's Perspective

On a recent trip to Breedlove's factory, in Oregon, I came across this guitar hanging on a wall. It was a guitar that they built and it came out so well they kept it for demo's and to show people what a fine example of a Breedlove guitar it was. After some persuading, I was able to convince Breedlove to let me bring it back to the shop. This guitar, along with simply looking gorgeous, is a true player! It has that extra mojo to it that makes it feel incredible in your hands and the tone seems to emphasize all of the right frequencies while cutting out the ones you don't need.

Breedlove’s Oregon series are some of the only acoustics I’ve come across that uses myrtlewood for the sides and back. The solid sitka spruce top makes for loud and dynamic projection of the beautiful tone that the myrtlewood helps create. The gorgeous whiskey burst finish allows the figuring of the wood to show while giving the guitar a beautiful aesthetic. Lush, organic, bassy, and yet shimmery in the top end - the sound of this guitar is as unique as myrtlewood’s origins. It has the power and crisp top-end of maple, but with a rich, chimey harmonic content all its own. It’s great as a fingerpicker and will provide a nice foundation for the singer/songwriter. The low-profile but effective pickup system makes gigging easy, and the bridge-pin free bridge design will let you change strings on the fly. Perfect for anyone who’s looking for a gig-ready, dread shaped acoustic guitar with a subtle twist. Of course, this one being a dreadnought, it'll have a more pronounced bass response and a little bit less midrange than it's concert-sized counterpart. It has a huge dynamic response and can handle anything from subtle to full on aggressive playing styles.

Breedlove's neck shapes are a bit narrower/thinner than traditional acoustics and almost play more like an electric. It makes for an extremely comfortable neck shape and left-hand fatigue will be a thing of the past. The fretwork and craftsmanship is top-notch to allow for very low action, if that's your cup of tea.

Manufacturer's Description

For the player who wants the stout projection of a Breedlove dreadnought with the unique look, midrange fullness, depth, clarity, and liveliness of locally sourced myrtlewood. The most accessible American-made platform for the Breedlove rounded dreadnought, it's voiced to project defined tone with volume and clarity and features a slightly rounded upper bout to provide a great sound chamber and to be less restrictive for the player.
