If you're looking for an axe that has a decidedly modern sound but still possesses that passive vintage vibe, then look no further! The Mayones Jabba Custom BB 5 is a modern Jazz bass player's dream. The Aguilar J-70 pickups have lots of growl and snappiness to them. They're a bit more vintage sounding than the Delano's that sometimes come in these. Pair that with the Mayo 3-band preamp that boosts the bass, mid, and treble EQs at just the right frequencies and it's a recipe for success. But if you want something a little more old-school sounding, it's also possible to bypass the preamp and play the bass in passive mode.
The neck is extremely fast, thin, and flat. It feels awesome and the overall construction of it, especially the fretwork, is extremely precise and allows for this bass to achieve crazy low action. A specially contoured neck heel for easy upper frets access, absolutely expert craftsmanship, and overall meticulous attention to detail help make this one of the best 5-string j-style basses on the market!
