The Aguilar humbuckers are overwound and powerful for a bass tone that cuts through the mix a bit more. They pump out loads of mid-range goodness while keeping the bass response tight and focused and still providing plenty of treble. Whether you're playing heavy rock with a pick or laying down a groove fingerstyle, or putting your thumb to the bass for some slap action, this bass has enough versatility that it can cover many genres. The Pau Ferro fretboard is nice because, while providing some of the warmth that rosewood has, it's a bit snappier and a touch brighter in tone.
