Their goal is a simple one: to build high-quality instruments while maintaining affordability in a world where you're having to spend more and more money to get a decently built guitar and often times, even at over $1k, you won't even get any sort of case or gig bag with it either.

The Archetype Select is a lean, mean, shredding machine. At this price point, you'll be hard pressed to find higher quality. With features like the quartersawn neck, often only found on higher end and very expensive instruments, the crew over at Balaguer are trying to build legitimately pro-quality instruments at an affordable price that the average gigging musician can rock. And with that hard rocker in mind, Music Store Live and Balaguer Guitars put together the specs for this Archetype Select run and we're really thrilled with the outcome.

The neck is very comfortable and it's great for shredding, but it's not going to be paper thin either. You've got enough of a chunk of wood to hold onto while flying up and down the fretboard while still having a neck that is lightning fast. The overall construction and fit and finish of this is hard to beat for under $1k. The guitar arrived here already with very low action and playability is a breeze. The "feral" pickups are going to hit your pedals and/or amp with some force and this guitar can handle any amount of saturation that you throw at it. High gain? No problem!

Affordability meets high quality - that's what Balaguer guitars are all about and here's another prime example of that.

Manufacturer's Description

The Archetype is our take on a double cutaway guitar which fuses elegance with modern design. We approached the shape with ergonomics and playability in mind. Built for heavier styles of music, we paired our higher output Feral humbucker set with an ash body and quartersawn maple neck construction. A flatter fingerboard radius, 24 frets, and beveled body design lends to fast yet comfortable playability. This model is meant to NOT get in your way when you need to shred, so we sculpted the back of the treble horn to allow all access to the upper register of the neck.

We design & build our own pickups. After extensive R&D and prototyping, we are excited to release the info below:
Feral Humbucker – The Feral humbucker caters to the modern metal player, at 12.5K output for the bridge humbucker, it adds additional depth and texture to the Evergreen Humbucker tone. After putting our Evergreens out there in the wild, we received some interest in a slightly hotter version, which birthed The Feral.
