Player's Perspective

Just... Wow! Yet another truly beautiful offering from our friends over at Anderson. The beautifully figured koa top looks like it's on fire! Overall we wanted to keep the guitar having a natural and woody vibe but also with a bit of an edge and some attitude to it.

The top has some wide and thick figuring down by the bottom and gets tighter towards the top. It's loaded with tons of character and looks gorgeous up close and from afar. The roasted maple neck feels divine and the overall neck is made even better by the immaculate fretwork. The attention to detail on this guitar is classic "Tom Anderson" in the best of ways. Low action and butter-like playability is the name of the game with this Drop Top, for sure. Everything about it is just effortless.

For electronics, we went with a versatile but definitely rock-ready tonal pallet. The HC humbuckers are some of our favorites. They are a touch hotter than something that would be considered medium output and they sound great with distortion. But because they are still well balanced, they sound beautiful when played clean, too. Whether you want them to be smooth and sweet or heavy and cutting, they can pull it off.

Anderson just never fail to impress us with their guitars. The crew over there make some of the best bolt-on guitars in the world and this one stands tall at the summit of that mountain!

Manufacturer's Description

Before the introduction of the magnificent Drop Top in 1990, the number of "S" style guitars that had a maple top that was “dropped” to create a comfortable forearm contour were exactly zero. As a result of this design, we've chosen a body top thickness of 3/16 of an inch, which actually enhances and enriches the sonic character of the instrument. The result is a guitar that not only plays effortlessly, is extremely comfortable, and sounds amazing but is so darn good looking that if you don't dress well it just may upstage you.

Alder Body
Dating back to the late 1950's, this is the wood found in more 3 single coil, double cut-away, 25 1/2" scale length guitars than any other. Due to its wide spread popularity it produces a very familiar tone, a "vintage tone." Its sound is primarily a thicker, midrange tone. It is very full in the low midrange yet produces enough upper midrange to be clear and articulate.

Pickups
HC 1: More neck humbucker saturation, output and smoothness than HC1- while still retaining equilibrium for the neck position perfection. The quintessential mate for the medium-hot HC2 in the bridge position.
HC 2: Our other most popular humbucker, perhaps. Who wouldn’t love a medium-hot output package with all the vintage flavor firmly in place, wound to create a full bouquet of tonalities. Muscular mids with a smattering of lush and soft highlights so it is impressively musical, with never a hint of that “oops, I accidentally sat on a duck,” tone. Beautiful from all tonal angles.
