Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to be an official Tom Anderson Guitarworks dealer. These pretty much take the cake as some of the nicest bolt-on guitars to roll through our shop!

With a veritable who's who of guitar players on their roster, it's easy to see why Anderson Guitars have become so highly sought after for pros and hobbyists alike. A brief glance of Anderson's endorsees includes names like Bob Seger, David Crosby, Dierks Bentley, Kirk Hammett, Keith Richards, Richie Sambora, Neal Schon, Vernon Reid, Tim Pierce, and the list goes on and on and on. Simply put, Tom Anderson and his crew are cranking out some of the most amazing guitars on the planet right now.

This Cobra is a sophisticated and classy instrument that can appeal to old-school players, modern-day shredders, and just about anyone in between that likes single-cutaway guitars that look beautiful and can back up its looks with tone and amazing playability. The feel of the satin mahogany neck is absolutely out of this world and the guitar really pretty much feels like it plays itself. With the heavy frets and immaculate fretwork along with a wonderfully carved neck shape, it's pure joy playing this guitar. It makes for a truly effortless playing experience. You'll never have to worry about the guitar getting in your way.

The HC pickups would qualify as medium output. They aren't super aggressive and overwound but they have a bit more punch and body to them than something with vintage specs. They're designed to provide a lot of versatility so they can dabble in modern applications just as well as it can achieve old-school tones. These pickups also interact really nicely with pedals and the front-end of your amp allowing you to hit them with some force, but again, it's not going to be a one-trick-pony high-gain axe. If you want to add saturation to it, go for it. The HC1 and especially the HC2 pickups can handle that with no problem at all and you can get real nasty with your tone. But you can also clean it up really nicely and get a shimmery and glassy clean sound. The mahogany body and neck will also help add some sweet and pleasant mid-range that really helps maintain clarity and articulation in every note along with the electronics.

The crew over at Tom Anderson Guitarworks never fail to impress us. Whenever an Anderson guitar comes into the shop everyone drops what they're doing to check it out. This is an incredible guitar and a shining example of the amazing craftsmanship coming out of the Anderson factory.

Manufacturer's Description

From the moment Cobra T first appeared on the scene in 1992, its popularity has been utterly overwhelming.  Everyone who touches one, seems to want one, and rightly so. But why?
Cobra T is one of the only guitars on Earth (maybe the only one) that is a perfect blend between the formidable sonic muscle of a short scale guitar and the musicality of a long scale guitar. And the only way to get this wonderful blend is aboard a Cobra T (or Cobra S).
   - Cobra T is a short scale guitar. A shorter, 24 3/4-inch scale length means less string tension, fatter mids, and greater ease of bending and reaching.

   - Additionally, Cobra T derives much of its muscle and focused, aggressive midrange by virtue of a mahogany foundation. The Cobra body is attentively hand-selected, pure mahogany, crowned by an exotic wood top, usually beautiful, figured maple.

   - Cobra T's neck is a sleek and fast mahogany back, embraced by a premiere rosewood fingerboard.

But Cobra T has a bite that will predominate through any mix, on stage or in the studio, giving more life and dimension to every musical passage, an aspect that is usually difficult for most short-scale, mahogany guitars to achieve. Its geometry grants this gift, with its flat neck to body alignment and string through the body bridge choices, saddle tension is increased and clarity is exalted.

PICKUPS
Within the sanctuary of a sleek and smooth cover beats the heart of a vintage lion. Mild to medium to hot output, HCs sing with a wonderful vintage flavored voice, depicted by focused midrange energy and enlightened by extremely musical upper-mids and seasoned with sweet, soft and soothing highs.

HC 1: More neck humbucker saturation, output and smoothness than HC1- while still retaining equilibrium for the neck position perfection. The quintessential mate for the medium-hot HC2 in the bridge position.

HC 2: Our other most popular humbucker, perhaps. Who wouldn’t love a medium-hot output package with all the vintage flavor firmly in place, wound to create a full bouquet of tonalities. Muscular mids with a smattering of lush and soft highlights so it is impressively musical, with never a hint of that “oops, I accidentally sat on a duck,” tone. Beautiful from all tonal angles.
