Truth be told, when we first unpacked this F-512 from its original shipping box from Guild, we took it out, played a G chord and it was still perfectly tuned. We think that's a good sign. This the gold standard for 12 string guitars - a guitar that all others must be judged by. It sets the bar pretty high for the rest of the high end 12 string market, that's for sure. The playability on this F-512 is uncommonly good for any 12 string. Every position plays smooth, fast and has tremendous response to playing dynamics. The tone is golden and could be likened to that of a stage grand piano with a big, bell-like low end, singing mids and glistening highs. This guitar will record exceptionally well and is also very well suited for live use with a very clear projected voice of its own.

The F-512 Maple is back and better than ever. Formerly the F-512, this USA-made jumbo has been a staple of the Guild line since the late 1960’s. and features a tight grained solid Sitka spruce top with arched flamed maple back and maple sides. Created on the same arch press that’s been a part of Guild manufacturing since 1985, the F-512 Maple provides sharply focused trebles and an articulate mid-range, perfect for a full, centralized, harp-like sound. Braced with delicate, scalloped Adirondack spruce, this model produces the shimmering highs that players have come to expect from a Guild 12-string. Elegant cosmetic appointments include the classic Guild “V-block” inlays, gold Gotoh hardware, and a beautiful Nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
