Player's Perspective

Meticulously crafted in Nazareth, PA, Martin’s 16 and 17 series offers authentic Martin tone, unbeatable playability and classic styling at reasonable price points. These guitars are a great way to get that true acoustic sound you’re after without going broke. This 00-style 17 series acoustic is finished in a really nice black smoke finish and sort of has that old Johnny Cash vibe to it. It looks really cool, but more importantly, it sounds and plays great. The tone is rich and full with loud and present lows as well as highs that cut through but aren't too tinny or shrill. The spruce top projects well and the mahogany back and sides are very resonant. Overall you get a very balanced tone coming out of this, likely due to the mahogany. Playability is great. The neck is easy to maneuver around and the fretwork is on point. This is a great axe to begin your love for Martin acoustic guitars with and it includes a Fishman Aura VT Enhance pickup and preamp system so you can plug right into your favorite amplifier or PA system and you'll be ready to rock.

Manufacturer's Description

A solid Sitka spruce top and Mahogany back and sides are the foundation for this sloped shoulder Grand Concert model. The grained ivoroid binding and pickguard are beautiful against the satin black smoke finish. This version includes a Fishman Aura VT Enhance pickup system. A modern straightline rosewood bridge and a modified low oval neck with Performing Artist taper complete the 00L-17 Black Smoke.
