Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to present this 2004 Taylor 814-CE! Crispy clean, warm, bright and it plays like a bat out of hell. This 814-CE is very well set up, the action is set low and the intonation is dialed in. This guitar can run the gamut on pretty much any style you throw at it. Fingerstyle players will love the feel of the strings - it has a great amount of flex to them and very lively response. Flatpickers will love the way it can burn at top speed in every position. Folk style players will love the deep, rich and open tone, and the fact that it tunes up easy and takes a capo like a champ with no fussing around. Everybody will love the huge response and feel as well as it's superior electrified tone. With these electronics, you can easily get the best sound out of your guitar no matter what room you're playing. This 814-CE is the total package.

Item Details

This 814-CE, made in 2004, features the uber-versatile Grand Auditorium body design with a solid Sitka Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. The body has a very nice gloss finish. The mahogany neck has a very manageable shallower "C" profile - this is a terrific multi-purpose profile that scores of players love. It's fast, smooth and easy to switch from chordal playing to lead and it's also desirable for more inventive and percussive styles. 2004 was the first year that Taylor debuted it's now infamous Expression System onboard preamp and pickup. With the easiest controls imaginable ( Volume, Bass, Treble ) this all magnetic system lets you faithfully reproduce the wonderful sound of the guitar. Other appointments include the Venetian cutaway, fine binding work on the top, back and neck, an abalone rosette, rosewood truss rod cover and tortoise pick guard.

This Taylor 814-CE comes with its original hard shell case.

Overall Condition

This 2004 Taylor 814-CE is in excellent plus condition with the exception of one small ding on the top lower bout, treble side. The ding area runs about 2 inches long. It is near the binding but does not touch or effect the binding work. It reaches to the wood but does not go all the way through and it has not effected the bracing in any way. There is no tonal difference to the guitar due to this ding and it does not effect the playability of the guitar at all. It is purely cosmetic and could be easily repaired by a luthier. The frets are excellent, showing only minimal wear. They have enormous amounts of life to them.

This is a top shelf playing and sounding acoustic / electric Taylor guitar and a first year production model featuring their now standard Expression System. If you can deal with one small little ding, you're in for a big big treat. This beast is ready to roll. Enjoy!
