Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to present this 1998 Taylor 814 CE! Crisp, clean, bright and lightning fast. That's a good way to get started on this exceptional playing 814 CE. The tone on this axe is nicely balanced - it's not a canon so if you're looking for overwhelming bass, move on. It is, however, quite loud and projects beautifully. The bass is tight and even sounding, the mids ring sweetly and the highs cut through easily. Flatpicking is almost too easy on this beauty - it's very fast and the low even action makes it a snap to play in any position. Fingerstyle playing is a blast as well - the strings have a good amount of "bounce" and "snap" to them. The guitar as a whole is very responsive to playing dynamics and it is set up very well. Plug in and get basically the same sound of the guitar, only amplified. This pickup system is a great on board unit that's easy to dial in and sounds great without ever being harsh. This 814 CE is a killer package!

Item Details

This 814 CE, made in 1998, features the uber-versatile Grand Auditorium body design with a solid Sitka Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. The body has a very nice gloss finish. The mahogany neck has a very manageable shallower "C" profile - this is a terrific multi-purpose profile that scores of players love. It's fast, smooth and easy to switch from chordal playing to lead as well as good for more inventive styles. The onboard Fishman Prefix Blender pickup system delivers lush tones in an easy to use format that blends the best of both worlds - an internal microphone and more standard transducer pickup. This is a terrific sounding pickup system and the transducer is surprisingly warm. Coupled with the internal mic, you can tackle any stage or studio in the world with this set up and get an amazing tone.

This Taylor 814 CE comes with its original hard shell case.

Overall Condition

This 1998 Taylor 814 CE is in excellent playing condition with some minor cosmetic blips. Everything plays and works as it should - no worries at all. The body has some very small finish dings here and there but nothing scray and you have to look hard to see them - nothing even half the size of a pea. There's some typical minor finish checking around the neck joint and the input jack. The frets show minimal to moderate wear - they have lots and lots of life left on them.

This is an exceptional playing Taylor 814 CE with a top shelf electronics system. It is absolutely professional grade, any player would be satisifed with it's performance and stellar tone.
