Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to present this 1959 Gibson ES-330 T! Even for a guitar that's not 53 years old, this ES-330T plays amazing. When you consider it's age, and that it is a first year production model, its hard to not have your mind blown. Anyway, this vintage hollow body plays beautifully as we have just given it a total once over and set it up very nicely. The action is low / medium-low ( perfect for traditional Blues playing and tone ), the neck is straight and the intonation is right on the money! It's hard to overstate the resonance a guitar like this has. When you play a note, you feel the the top and back of the guitar against your body ripple with vibration. It's as alive a playing experience as you could really hope for. The tone is terrific for throaty Blues and Jazz with some room for experimentation in between. A wonderful playing experience.

Item Details

Gibson started production of the ES-330T in 1959 making this guitar a first year production model. This model underwent numerous changes before being discontinued in 1972. This guitar is nearly all original with the exception of the plastic knobs and truss rod cover. The maple fully hollow thin body is finished in original Sunburst and there are two unbound F-holes. One Gibson P90 single coil pickup sits in the in between position of where two pickups normally would be lending a slightly different and more universal tone to this guitar. The mahogany neck has a full feeling rounded 50's profile to it. It's nice and fat and very comfortable. The binding on the body and neck have aged to a nice yellow-cream color over the years. The BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD fretboard is adorned with dot inlays. The Patent # ABR-1 bridge appears to have been replaced in the early/ mid 60's but it works perfectly with the original Trapeze tailpiece and Gibson Deluxe tuners to keep the intonation and tuning stability of this instrument in solid order. This guitar previously had a set of non modifying Grovers installed on it which has helped preserve the incredible working and cosmetic condition of the original tuners. This vintage Gibson ES-330 T comes with a black hard shell case.

Overall Condition

This 1959 Gibson ES-330T is in excellent condition. The top shows one small ding. The back shows only some light finish scratches. The back of the neck has less than a handful of small capo or ring dings to the finish in the lower positions that you do not feel while playing the guitar. The headstock has one small but noticeable chip between the A and D string tuners. The tuners are original, or at the very least era correct, but there are signs of previous tuners being installed. You should be able to see all of this in the photos. The frets are excellent.

This is an exceptionally well looked after vintage Gibson ES-330T from the first year of it's manufacturing. It plays wonderfully and has the sound to match. This guitar checks out in every category. Run, don't walk, to the Buy It Now button! Enjoy!
