Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to present this 2011 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt La Cabronita Telecaster Relic! This guitar combines time-tested, reliable Fender specs with a boldly unique design conception. The result is an instrument that has everything we love about old Telecasters and everything we love about the individuality of custom built guitars. Responsive and dynamic, this guitar's voice isn't quite like any other Tele. It has the characteristic Fender twang, but with more roundness and warmth in the midrange. Its articulation doesn't rely on the high-end - the sound is focused everywhere. A worn in, well played and loved Tele neck might be the most comfortable ride in the guitar world, and the relicing on this guitar provides that exact feel. Bends are easy, chords are comfortable and single note lines come effortlessly. The neck has the right amount of relief, the action is low/medium, and the intonation is perfect. In short, it's a Tele, but it's way more than a Tele.

Item Details

This Fender Masterbuilt La Cabronita Telecaster Relic has a select lightweight alder body. With the single pickup design, short black pickguard and bold Ocean Turquoise finish, this guitar doesn't look like any Tele we've come across. The one piece quarter sawn maple neck features a large C profile. These necks are comfortable even before they're worn in, but this one has been reliced just enough to make it so cozy that it seems to disappear in your hand. The maple fretboard features a 9.5" radius, dot inlays and a 25.5" scale length. The controls of this guitar are simple and effective. One is a master volume, and the other is a tone control that lets you roll off the high end without affecting the mids and lows. One of the only criticisms of Teles is that they're too high-end happy, so this simple control is a great solution. The bone nut makes for great intonation, and the Sperzel Die-Cast tuners will keep this thing in tune even after your biggest bends. The Fender Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Overall Condition

This 2011 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt La Cabronita in excellent condition. Aside from a few extremely light pick marks on the pickguard, this guitar shows no signs of use. The body looks as it should - lightly reliced, as though it was played gently over the years. The frets are excellent and show almost no play wear at all. This is as good as it gets in the world of "used" guitars.

Telecasters are everywhere, so it's inspiring to come across one that really has its own personality. This La Cabronita Telecaster Relic will add distinct, bold tone and worn-in comfort to the player's collection just as well as it'll add a unique twist to any collector's showroom. You won't find another Tele like this.
