1965 Fender Jazzmaster Blonde
Out of stock
Music Store Live is proud to present this vintage 1965 Fender Jazzmaster in the EXTREMELY RARE AND COLLECTABLE BLONDE FINISH! This is a real treat for us to offer a guitar of this age with such impeccable feel, tone and playability. This is one of those vintage guitars that just checks out in every department. The neck is perfectly worn in like a good vintage axe should be - smooth and worn down a bit without ruining the feel of the finish. It plays exceptionally well owing to our in house set up. There's no buzzing, the neck is straight, the intonation is dialed in and the action is set low for an easy ride all over the fretboard. A professional refret a few years back give this killer years of stellar playing time. The tone is just great of course - full and dynamic, ethereal and exploratory, throaty and thrilling, salty and stinging. These guitars can cover a lot of ground and when they play this good they can do even more. The trem arm plays smooth and even with no issues. This is the total package, the full enchilada, the real deal!
Way back in 1965 this Blonde Jazzmaster first rolled off the line, scooting out the door right before the sale of Fender to CBS. The neck dates to January '65 and the pots date to 1964 making this an earlier Jazzmaster and one of the last guitars made while Leo Fender still owned the company. The brazilian rosewood fretboard is very nice on this guitar with some very nice dark figuring through the middle. The guitar is all original with the exception of some interconnect wiring, the professional refret it has received and a replacement chrome trem arm. The Blonde finish has faded a bit to reveal some of the beautiful grain of the alder body. The gold hardware is worn a bit from the years. The Kluson deluxe tuners are all original but one out of the six is a "one line" Kluson instead of the "two line" Klusons, referring to how many lines the actual name engraving takes up. This is not uncommon for Fender during the 60's considering how rare the gold hardware option was back then. The guitar weighs in at 7.64 pounds - nice and light. This Jazzmaster comes with its original black tolex hard shell case.
It is purported that Howard Leese from the band Heart owned this guitar at one time though Music Store Live cannot substantiate this claim. Howard, if you're out there… CALL US!
This is a wonderful chance to own a particularly well sounding and playing vintage Fender Jazzmaster. The fact that it was manufactured before the sale to CBS makes it unmistakably more desirable, as do the earlier dated pots, gold hardware, and Blonde finish. The sound and feel alone on this guitar are worth the price of admission. The vintage investment value is a nice bonus ; )
