Music Store Live is proud to present this 1960 Gibson ES-330 T! We get so excited when we get a vintage ES-330 in our shop. They always seem to exude extra special vintage vibe for some reason; and this one is no exception. In fact, it's loaded to the gills with "it." When you have a guitar that's laid out this simply, it's all about tone and feel. The tone on this ES-330 is warm, woody and has a pleasing brightness to it. You can do quite a bit with the one pickup and the tone knob. We cranked the gain on an Orange AD-30, killed the tone on the guitar and immediately had the guitar solo in The Guess Who's "American Woman." Open the tone back up and she sings loud and clear. This is a vintage axe that was played lovingly over the years and enjoyed very much - sometime you can just feel that come through an older guitar. We've set this lovely up for you so the neck is straight, the action is low, the intonation is spot on and it plays wonderfully.
The finish on the back of the neck is dinged up here and there throughout the neck. This is most likely the work of a player that played with rings on his fingers and gripped a bit too hard into the neck while playing. That, or it's from regularly leaning the guitar to rest on an amp or something similar instead of using a guitar stand. Either way, it doesn't effect the playability but you can feel the dings while running your hand along the neck.
The other "blip" is a dime sized puncture on the treble side towards the bottom of the F hole. This looks like the beginning of a side mounted 1/4" jack modification that wasn't seen through or just an unfortunate ding to the guitar. Either way, at some point it should be easily repaired or a new jack could be installed there to take the guitar cable off the guitar's top.
The frets are in very good shape and are ready to rock for a long time without needing any attention. The headstock shows some roughness from general use over the years but there's no cracks or repairs.
This is a seriously wonderful vintage guitar that's been enjoyed over the years for sure. It plays very nice - we would definitely gig with it without changing anything on it. The tone is warm and terrific for blues, jazz etc and the feel and vibe are really hard to beat. Someone can enjoy this beauty for another 50 years if they're good to this guitar.
