Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to present this 1952 Gibson ES-125! If you've read a few of our listings at this point you may already know that I have a soft spot for these guitars. I love the tone, the feel, the playability and the PRICE! While this one may be priced a little on the higher side of the spectrum than you'd typically find for this model guitar, there is a good reason for it. Everything on this beauty is dialed in nicely. The neck is straight, the action is fairly low, the tone is heavenly and there are no issues besides a very small amount of buzz here or there. Any buzz this axe has falls within acceptable limits and doesn't take away from this guitar's ability to go out and steal the spotlight. We're happy to find a great home for this one!

Item Details

This 1952 Gibson ES-125 is all original with the exception of one pot which has been replaced. The original pot is included in the sale. This ES-125 comes with it's original deluxe Lifton hard shell case. This is the reason this guitar is priced the way it is. When these guitars were first sold they did not always come with a case so the customer had the option of purchasing a chip board case or upgrading to the deluxe Lifton case. This is a very nice vintage feature to able to offer with this guitar today. If you are interested in the guitar alone we are happy to include a newer hard shell case instead of the Lifton case and adjust the price accordingly.

The fully hollow Sunburst body measures 16 1/4" wide and 3.5 thick approximately. The mahogany neck features a luxurious and fat 50's rounded profile, Brazilian rosewood fretboard and pearloid dot inlays. The dog ear P90 single coil pickup sounds amazing and has adjustable pole pieces so you can easily balance the pickup the way you like it. Other fine features include a silkscreen logo on the headstock, tortoise grain pick guard, trapeze tailpiece a single bound top and back.

Overall Condition

This 1952 Gibson ES-125 is in very good plus condition. There are a very low number of finish dings and scratches - the body is quite clean as is the neck! Any binding separation that's occurred over the years has been touched up. The original frets are in very good condition still! The tuners show a little shrinkage and warping but still work fine.

This is a fine playing and sounding ES-125 that will hold it's vintage market value strongly especially with the deluxe Lifton hard shell case. This is a great axe to play regularly and to hold on to for decades!
